Hosted Voice Services

Hosted Voice is a suite of VoIP (Voice over IP) Services specifically designed for consumers and businesses that wish to run their Voice Services over a broadband connection.

Standard telephone calls are made over the PSTN (analogue) or ISDN (digital) networks. With VoIP calls, you don't need to make use of these lines. You simply need an internet connection. VoIP technology converts voice signals into 'packets', similar to an email and sends them out from the callers network address to the receiver via the internet. The cost savings are made because at least part of the call will miss going through a telephone exchange and therefore not incur associated charges such as call connections. If you are calling someone whose service is hosted in the same location as you, then you will completely bypass any telephone exchange and therefore the call is free.

VoIP calls can take place over the public internet using well known services such as Skype. Being on the public internet reduces the quality of calls drastically and has a lot to do with why VoIP has mostly been regarded as a 'bleeding edge' technology. The quality hasn't quite been there. 

This can be controlled though, by hosting the VoIP service on a secure and quality controlled server - just like a cloud. This is Hosted Voice, and it is the present and the future of landline telephony.

Telcotalk had two major products in the Hosted Voice Suite;


1. MyPBX

MyPBX is a fully featured hosted telephone system delivered over a broadband connection.Instead of purchasing, installing and managing a PBX, a business can deploy IP Phones and connect to MyPBX at Telcotalk’s secure data centre.

2. SIP Trunks

A SIP Trunk is a product that Telcotalk offers, that allows businesses with an already installed PBX to use VOIP. By connecting a SIP trunk to an internal traditional PSTN phone system, companies can communicate over IP outside the enterprise using multiple media types including voice, video and data.

SIP trunks are also beneficial for companies who have already invested in a VOIP set up but are seeking to increase the value of the investment they have already in VOIP by maximising the benefits of their current system.
